This is a great great movie. Leave Her To Heaven is the story of a jealous wife that is stopped by nothing, nothing at all, in her crazed love for her husband. Two gorgeous actresses star, Gene Tierney and Jeanne Crain as her sister. This is definitely one of those jaw-dropping thrillers that keeps going and going. If you've never seen it, if you like real dramatic thrillers, this is the one! Too many scenes are just amazing and to give them away would spoil it. Gene Tierney was nominated for an Oscar Best Actress as the wife.

It's on TCM Watch.

Thanks for the heads up. Something to look forward to watching tonight. Tierney and Crain rank up there with some of the most breathtakingly gorgeous women to come out of 20th Century-Fox.

...and I forgot to mention the Technicolor! Fox certainly had respect and knew how to use Technicolor and Crain and Tierney are two great actors that were like "candy" to Technicolor.

I finally saw it last night! What a great film! I had never seen it. Terrific performances from the cast, except I thought Cornel Wilde came off a bit stiff in the beginning but he got better as the film progressed. Classic film noir all the way!

Yes, I hope everyone that watched it enjoyed it. So rich and noir-y , so many great scenes that you don't expect. Tierney and Crain are so beautiful but I still don't get the Cornel Wilde vibe from a lot of his films. He's better in this than other things I've seen. This movie is such a classic spell binder.

Just remember whatever she wants she gets... and nothing ever happens to her! Catch it on TCM Watch if you can. (I don't work for TCM, gang, I just love great movies)

I just got the TCM Watch app a couple of days ago. I will definitely give this another watch...it was just that good!

I checked to see if it was available on blu-ray to add to my collection, only to find that it was released in a limited edition of 3,000 by Twilight Time in May 2003 and is sold out. It now goes for as much as $80.00 on ebay and other retailers. I can't believe Fox didn't release this on blu-ray themselves. It was their most profitable film of the 1940s.

I just checked and this is not available on Netflix.  You have piqued my interest so that I did an alpha grid search on my Time Warner (nyc) cable and luckily found it.  It's on FMOD Ch 508  -- free movies on demand.

i am so excited.  Will curl up this evening to watch.  Thanks!!

I'm glad that some of you are finding the film and enjoying it. It's really one of my favorites from that time. One of the other great things about Leave Her To Heaven is the great score by Alfred Newman; it's somewhat a forebearer of Herrmann's Vertigo, I love the music when she is on horseback spreading her father's ashes. Great imagery and theme. This is definitely a "No Spoilers" movie.

That was a great scene but my favorite was the lake scene with Danny.

FYI if you are interested, TCM is showing Leave Her To Heaven at 1:30 eastern today.

And later after LHTH, with every talking about a Funny Girl revival, TCM is showing Funny Lady, This movie has its' faults but "I Like It" and it's filled with a lot of great songs and production numbers. Plus Ben Vereen's Slap Hands Her Comes Charlie is a showstopper! That song alone is worth watching the movie.

Leave Her To Heaven is a great film with interesting characters and story plus some amazing use of Technicolor. Turner Classic Movies has been my one of my favorite channels since I was 9 years old and it's still amazing that it's still here and the same since 1994. Other channels can change all they want but Turner Classic Movies is a channel that wants to stay the same and that's perfect for me.

Thanks for the heads up Steve. I will definitely watch it again....I saw FUNNY LADY when I was 7. My mom is a huge Streisand fan and we went to see it at the Essex Theater on the Lower East Side.

My boyfriend was looking through my film list that I had labeled and this particular film had a typo in its title.  He asked me, "What's 'Leave Her to Heave'?!?!"  I couldn't stop laughing and now, I laugh whenever the title of the film comes up (which has been surprisingly often).
