What do you guys think it'll be next year? Isn't Fox doing GREASE LIVE, too?

I'd say it depends on the ratings for Peter Pan. If they can't duplicate last years ratings magic, then this might be the end of this grand experiment.

Wasn't it already announced that it's "The Music Man"?

I wish they'd pick "larger" characters to attract bigger stars. Think if they did something like "Bonnie & Clyde" and they were able to cast two huge stars in it, a la Carrie Underwood in Sound of Music. That's where the ratings come from. I thought this telecast so far has been so boring.

You have to blame the producers & directors of Peter Pan for its failure tonight as it just did not work on TV. Poor casting choices direction and weirdly filmed camera angles missed the magic & fun.

I think THE MUSIC MAN and OLIVER are good choices.

The Music Man? POSSIBLY. Oliver? no.

I'm not a fan of the show, but I feel like you'd have more star casting opportunities for a show like RENT but I know parents would go NUTS complaining. But really, who wants to see The Music Man or Oliver AGAIN?

If NBC continues this event, it'll be a well known, up beat show. They can't afford to do it if it's The Scarlet Pimpernell or Curtains. It has to be a show people know instantly. The vast majority of viewers aren't tuning in for Kelli O'Hara or Marty Lawson as a pirate named "Pirate." They're tuning in because it's Peter Pan.

I loved the idea of Cinderella. Guys and Dolls could be fun. Oklahoma would be lovely. But it has to bbe über recognizable.

I'd love to see another Cinderella with someone who can ACTUALLY sing soprano and R&H!

I could sit through Cinderella but NOT if they try to Who-ville it up like they're doing with Neverland right now.

"They're tuning in because it's Peter Pan. "

I don't think this is entirely true - I think a large part of the draw last year was Carrie Underwood and if she could live up to it. If you get a big enough star(s) it won't matter as long as the title/basis is known enough (ie historical figures, "movie to musicals")... I think Sound of Music was the perfect choice, however.

I'm surprised a live broadcast of The Wizard of Oz hasn't been mentioned.

If I was a big name actor and I was offered to be in a live broadcast of Wizard of Oz I'd say no. Learn to sing and dance and dress up as a scarecrow for a company that has produced two *slightly* embarrassing television broadcasts? NO THANKS!

Last year had a superstar. This year has an actress on an HBO show. She's well known a popular to a small portion of TV viewers. I'm like Williams and really enjoy Girls, but she isn't a star. The biggest name is Christoher Walken and his performance has been "special" not special.

I agree people tuned in for the star last year. This year, I think the show's name and familiarity are drawing more then any actor.

According to a recent interview Zadan and Meron, NBC has optioned Music Man, though it is not definite that that will be the musical.
