I think bringing up the "foreign"/"exotic" aspect of Fella is interesting- I feel like the foreignness of Tony and Marie isn't really explored, despite being very present. The personal conflicts that arise have nothing particularly to do with their being Italian. The non-Italian characters all accept their foreignness and all the conflicts stem with concerns of rejection, loss, fidelity, and age.
