This role is in all likelihood going to somebody who fits the following criteria: 1) is over the age of 18 2) has genuine performance talent 3) has broad mainstream recognizability
We'll probably be surprised by who they pick, but it won't be because that person is an unknown.
For those asking, they wanted Jessica Sanchez as Cinderella but with Mary J. Blige being the selling point. From what I was told, when it wouldn't work out scheduling wise with Mary they didn't necessarily close the door forever.
For Peter Pan, why not Zachary Gordon? Is he a big star? No. Do families know who he is? Yes. Not to mention he's age appropriate.
IF the role of Peter goes to a minor, 17 is likely the 'age minimum', but I'll repeat what I said earlier: the role is in all likelihood going to go to an adult, regardless of gender.
Yes I used somebody else's words to make my point because , unfortunately, my recent dealings with cancer have left me, at certain times, not able to put a few sentences together in any cognitive way. I was doing a little research on the subject, found what I wanted to say, but at the time couldn't say myself and used them. Wrong, but I did it. I won't do it again. You, on the other hand, will still be the nasty, ignorant bitch you seem to be. (Ooops, lots of people on this board have said the same thing.)
Nolan Gould has grown much taller in the last year and his voice has deepened. Unless they re-orchestrate the score he could no longer sing alto (maybe countertenor but that takes a lot of training). He did a lovely rendition of "Music of the Night" on an episode of MODERN FAMILY last year.
I have no ideas on who to cast as Peter. I've been thinking a little, but nobody is coming to me right now.
But, how would they have gotten away with Cinderella if it is currently on Broadway? I know it might not be in December, but that makes less sense to me to do this year.

That's one of the big problems. The older they cast the role, the more ridiculous the actor is going to look. He needs to be on the verge of adolescence, not on the verge of enrolling in grad school.

Either someone young enough to look natural, or someone whose appearance and mannerisms are unusual, playful or flexible enough that people will buy into it because being Peter Pan "seems like a thing they would do."
Bruno Mars, for instance, has the sort of playful persona that would enable him to play Peter Pan, if not traditionally, at least believably.
darquegk-That's partially why I'm having a tough time thinking of a male for the role.
How good of a singer does Peter Pan have to be? I don't mean casting someone who can't sing like Pierce Brosnan in Mamma Mia. But, is someone who isn't the best singer, but could act going to ruin the role?

Then I really have no idea who I would cast or think of casting. Kind of glad I am not in that position.

I'm not saying this is the right actor for the part, his voice is probably a little too deep now, but he has a great look. This is what I always thought Peter Pan should look like
The one other issue with Kay is that, although he spent a year studying acting, singing, and dancing at a theater school in Britain, he's never actually been in a musical, which might turn some people off.
But of course he's already playing Peter Pan in ABC's "Once Upon a Time."
If you go with an adolescent, chances are Disney already has their hands on them. If you go with an adult, chances are they may not want to be associated with the role. So you could pick an unknown, do a search for Peter Pan reality show this summer, or you could get a grown woman to play the part.
Of course, I'm sure the show wouldn't have been announced if the producers didn't know exactly who they were going to cast already. But who that person might be is befuddling.
^ Actually, as of now, his tenure has ended unless they bring him back (which I don't think they will based on spoilers about where they're headed story-wise).
The problem with hiring an adolescent is that you have no idea what he will look like nine months from now. Jeremy Sumpter grew 8 inches during the filming of Peter Pan. They had to constantly rebuild the window set so he wouldn't bump his head. Also , voices have this horrible way of starting to change just at the wrong moment.
