Can someone please explain to me why the Witch has a "seizure/stutter" in the middle of the rap? I've never understoof

I originally thought the trance wasn't a trance at all, but was just the Witch correctly pronouncing the name of some magical creature called a "snuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu" which Sondheim made up for a laugh. Not actually correct, but I like my interpretation better.
