I am looking to perue musical theatre a a future career but I really need some advice about what I need to do to get there. I am in year 11 and I am worried I have only just realised how badly I want to perform. I do have singing lessons, I have played piano for 7 years now and I am taking acting workshops in my local area. I have decided to start dancing this year. I know that because im starting the dancing so late that I am obviously going to be at a disadvantage which I'm pretty worried about. I was thinking of taking jazz classes but which would be the best classes to take for me to be better prepared for musicals?
Any advice would be really helpful and personal experiences of how other made it would help me immensely!

We run a program that is created specifically for people like you. Auditions are coming up. Perhaps this is something that you would be interested in.
NYCinLI and NYCinMA are designed to launch students into top BFA programs or directly into the professional theater world. While other programs focus on putting together productions with dozens or hundreds of students and are staffed predominantly by college students, we bring in top NYC Broadway professionals (casting directors, agents, choreographers, directors, producers, equity actors and coaches) to teach the most important skill as a professional performer: auditioning. These are the very people running today's professional theater industry. Students walk out of our program with the skills and materials necessary to audition for top BFA programs and NYC professional theater. Our program only accepts 22 participants so that each student receives the individual attention necessary to prepare materials and to network with these professionals. Participants from last year's NYCinMA program (The identical program located in Framingham, MA) booked professional TV, Film and Theatre work, signed with NYC agents/managers and were called in to audition for Broadway shows.

:O My situation is so similar to yours, except from the fact that I know I want to perform, but I don't know if I want to do that in Opera or in Musical Theatre (also, I don't dance-I should really start :P ), but I've decided that I'm going to get a degree in music first and then I can decide between my options since you can do both Opera and Musical theatre as a postgrad degree XD

Thankyou for replying but I don't live in America, and hence it would be a little hard to get there.
Thankyou anyway

Yes, I am hoping to get into a musical theatre course at uni. Of course I would have to audition and I am unsure as to whether I am at the apropriate skill level for it. I'm working on my dancing and acting and singing so fingers crossed.
