Silly me. I've been wrong about the 1% all along. We should thank them.

I half-expect him to vanish and wind up living in Galt's Gulch.

What an utterly despicable, joyless, insanely methodical man. Picking a spouse based on demographic research? One day the "art history majors" (I suppose I'm one of those, because my main goal in life is not and never was to find out ways to be fabulously wealthy) will have his head on a pike.

The Obama campaign's latest ad is going after Romney for his Swiss bank account(s). They're contending that the only reasons to put your money in an offshore account is to hedge against the value of the dollar or to avoid taxes.

The thing is- you can hold the theory that the way to stimulate the economy is to give tax breaks to the super-rich. But we did that- for many years- and got NO boom. So how can you still hold to that theory when it has been proven to be wrong?

Conversely, you can hold to the theory that the government can't create jobs and that deficits harm the economy. But once FDR digs us out of the great depression with loads of government jobs that swell the deficit how do you continue to maintain that doesn't work?

Hey, Alex Castellanos and a GOP congresswoman were on Meet The Press this weekend, arguing with Rachel Maddow that women already get equal pay in this country, and that there is no need for laws to protect women's right to sue their employers for discriminatory practices. So, it seems like the GOP chooses to believe whatever they wish. What more do you expect from a group that still venerates Ronald Reagan, who was probably the worst president in our history?

Because he tried to pack the Supreme Court and expanded government power and, y'know, whatever.

Kad every time I hear the republicans refer to themselves as "the Party of Lincoln" I think about how Lincoln fought a WAR to preserve the power of the federal government.
