This one is really worthy of a Dickens' celebration. Fabulously funny, it really cheered us up no end and the band and choreoraphy are fantastic. The Landor really knows how to put on a show. Further ramblings are at the link. The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Saw this this afternoon. The actress playing Edwin Drood is apparently having vocal troubles, so they had to cut 'Two Kinsmen' and 'Writing on the Wall'. I'll have to see it at the Arts.
I thought it was a pretty good production, with several very good performances in it. I've never been to the Landor before -- really love the space!
Did you try the tasty grub? A good intimate space to see revivals I think, I was at another fringe venture this evening, The Southwark Union, to see Rodger's and Hart's 'Babes In Arms'.
I have a question about the Landor. Just had coffee with a friend of mine yesterday and he indicated that the actors at the Landor aren't paid. Is that true? It would explain some of the uneven abilities amongst the actors, but overall I thought the level of talent was very good, just very poorly directed.
I believe the topic was discussed when Ragtime was being presented there and I believe the conclusion was that they were not paid - how else could they afford the big cast?
Edwin Drood also has a relatively big cast so I assume the same applies. BTW, I saw it last night and really liked it. And Natalie Day's voice was back so all the songs were included.
