Singing for Actors class with Anna Boynton at Freehold Theatre Lab/Studio

Anyone who has stood up in front of others to speak knows how nerve-wracking it can be. And if speaking gives you anxiety, imagine singing!

This class takes a fun, lighthearted approach to help you overcome your nerves and develop more confidence. If you’ve never sung outside of your car or your shower, this is the class for you. If you’ve sung in public before, this class can help you feel more grounded and connected. We’ll focus on the very basics of putting a song together for an audition. You will learn techniques around breathing, intention and connecting with your music.

Singing with confidence (and having some fun while you’re at it) is what this class is all about.

Anna Lauris Boynton began her singing career in her grandparent’s living room at the age of 2, and has been fortunate to go onto singing professionally for all of her adult life. She has sung on the stage in musicals, on camera for video, in the studio for various recordings and now sings with a small combo for select engagements.

Anna has performed with ACT, The Village Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre, and The Children’s Theatre. She’s also performed in Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, New York, Chicago, Tucson, Phoenix, Rochester, Laguna Beach, Minneapolis, and Madison, Wisconsin. She also toured all over the USA with the Missoula Children’s Theatre.

Anna holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota at Mankato and a BFA from Pacific Lutheran University. She has taught ages 5-75, from professional performers to Fortune 500 executives. Anna’s coaching applies basic acting techniques to public speaking, courtroom appearances and presentation delivery.

Anna believes that as we learn tools to help overcome our fear (fear of getting up in front of others to do something nerve-wracking), we gain confidence to not only know we can do something we are afraid of, but confidence in our abilities as actors, speakers, teachers, or anyone else who has the occasion to stand in front of others and speak.

Anna is thrilled to encourage any and all to take on the exciting challenge of singing in front of others.
