Pumpkin Theatre continues its 46th Season Discovering New Friendships Through Familiar Tales in our NEW HOME with The Young Playwrights Festival. Part of our "Kids for Kids" series, this partnership with Center Stage's Young Playwrights Festival is a program that features award winning plays written by children, for children, and performed and designed by the Pumpkin Professional artistic staff. "YPF is all about kids making theatre, and how transformative that can be. We're thrilled to partner with Pumpkin Theatre to expand the reach of these remarkable plays by some very talented young people," says Kwame Kwei-Armah, Artistic Director of Center Stage. This year's plays feature, The True Story of How The Chicken Crossed the Road by Kendall Archer (written in 6th grade), Brightly and Jade, a story of Friendship and Bravery by Phoebe Taylor (written in 1st grade) and When Pigs Fly by Belle Dallam (written in 6th Grade).

Performances for ONE weekend ONLY! November 16 & 17, shows are at 1 and 3pm. All performances take place at our NEW home, 2905 Walnut Ave, Owings Mills 21117. This production is not being offered as part of our Main Stage Subscription Series, and is ONLY $10 a ticket! Tickets are available by calling the box office at 410 902 1814 or purchasing ONLINE by visiting our website at www.pumpkintheatre.org

On November 16 after the 3pm show Pumpkin Theatre will host a Celebration of Playwrights! From 4:30 to 5:30 please join us for a free event in the theater and meet the Young Playwrights as well as Producing Artistic Director (and playwright) Jimi Kinstle and special guest Michael Perrie Jr (Rapunzel's Prince) who is now in NY writing plays and composing music. Food and drink will be available for purchase and there will be reading of excerpts from both Mr Perrie's new children's play Wild Imagination and from Mr Kinstle's play Jack and the Beanstalk, The Story of Jack and Daisy which will be performed at Pumpkin Theatre in April.

The True Story of How the Chicken Crossed the Road by Kendall Archer is the story of Jerry and Sam, two middle school soccer-playing chickens who are faced with bullies who eventually challenge them to take the risk of their lives!

Brightly and Jade, a Story of Friendship and Bravery by Phoebe Taylor follows the story of Brightly the Star on her journey to save her friends from the friendless "Evil Tire". Will Brightly save her friends? Or will The Evil Tire keep all the stars to himself forever.

When Pigs Fly, by Belle Dallam, is an ethereal piece about two pigs, Willie and Sam and their passion to build a flying machine and their struggle to get past Farmer Harlan and his suffocating wife Rosy. A "Pig-postereous" story, come see if Willie and Sam ever get their dream off the ground.

The Young Playwrights Festival is directed by Ana Goldseker (Brightly and Jade) and Jimi Kinstle ("Chicken" and "Pigs") with creative support of Adrienne Gieszl (Lights), Heather C. Jackson (Costumes), Heather Mork (Set), Ally Cribbs (Props), Nick Hood (Sound and Video) and features actors Sam Hayder, Erin Confair, Elisa Dugan, Kelsey Painter, Robert Harris and Joan Crooks.
