DCT Opens THE 1940'S RADIO HOUR, 2/22-3/3

Swing back to a time when music was grand and life seemed easier. Dundalk Community Theatre celebrates the glorious music of the 1940's with a comedy set inside a radio studio, broadcasting a Christmas Special to the boys overseas, fighting the war in 1942. This isn't your typical musical, and not to be missed. The 1940's Radio Hour, runs 6 performances only, from Feb 22 to March 3rd. Individual tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $15 for students/DCT Actors/Children 12 and under.

The 1940's Radio Hour starts as a seemingly normal day in the life of your "average Joes"; working a fulltime time job and then coming to the WOV radio station to broadcast a live show to its listeners. The first act, the audience watches the lives of these dedicated performers as if peering through a window. They go about their normal routines of drinking coffee, setting up the recording studio, rehearsing for the nights "live audience" broadcast, and anything else that needs to happen before the show. They even have two contestants viaing for a spot to perform. The act concludes just as the show is about to air. Then the second act is full of an hour of hit tunes from the 1940s, commercials and a variety of antics. The audience is fortunate enough to see what the listeners don't realize is going on "behind the microphones". These striving-to-be professionals might sound great on the radio, but the audience sees why they haven't made it to the big-time yet.

The cast is complete with some of the best local talent around. Members include: Joey Hellman (Johnny Cantone), Richelle "Rikki" Howie (Geneva Lee Browne), Molly Doyle (Ann Collier), Amy Greco (Connie Miller), Lauren Everd (Ginger Brooks), Will Poxon (BJ Gibson), Henry Reisinger (Neal Tilden), Jake Stuart (Lou Cohn), Al Boeren (Clifton Feddington), Thomas Gardner (Stanley), Ralph Welsh (Pops Bailey), Emil Sueck (Wally Ferguson) and Cheryl Vourvoulas & Kristen Cooley (Cameos).

Show times are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday - Feb 22 - Mar 3 in the John E. Ravekes Theatre, K Building. For tickets and information, call 443-840-2787. Patrons requiring special accommodations are urged to notify the Box Office at least two weeks in advance.
