Shannon's first exposures to theater came through movie musicals, but she later was able to see some local theater productions and then was thrilled to be onstage for a handful of college shows. She's kept up her theater love ever since by attending as many regional and national performances as possible. Her first Broadway show was The Producers, and while she enjoys nearly every kind of theater, musicals, especially comedies, are her favorites. In moments of weakness, she'll admit her all-time favorite is A Chorus Line.

Outdoor events can be dicey propositions in any case, but rarely more so than on a July evening in Atlanta, where heat, humidity, and evening thunderstorms often combine to create miserable conditions. Not so on this night. As Atlanta's Chastain Park Amphitheater played host to Broadway legend Idina Menzel with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra-part of the Delta Airlines-sponsored Classic Chastain concert series-Mother Nature gave her blessing.
