Johnna Leary Johnna Leary recently graduated with a B.A. in Musical Theater from Shepherd University. She previously worked as the Arts and Styles Section Editor of the Shepherd University newspaper, The Picket and interned at the Contemporary American Theater Festival. She also writes as a local correspondent for DC Metro Theater Arts. Johnna frequently performs in educational and local theater productions. Her favorite roles include Johanna (u/s) and Young Lucy in Sweeney Todd at Shepherd, Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty in Enchanted Sleeping Beauty at Pumpkin Theatre, Cosette in Les Miserables at Way Off Broadway, Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Maggie in Lend Me A Tenor at the Washington County Playhouse. She can also be seen on several documentaries and mini series on Investigation Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and National Geographic.

The New Mel Brook's Musical Young Frankenstein will open at the Apollo Civic Theater in Martinsburg this weekend and features over twenty performers in the area premiere musical adaptation of Mel Brook's horror movie spoof. Directed by Terri Magers, musically directed by Allison Shaffer and choreographed by Shannen Banzhoff, Young Frankenstein is based on the Mel Brook's cult classic 1974 film of the same name.

Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre's production of Crazy for You is a phenomenal evening of entertainment filled with fantastic tap-dancing and great Gershwin standards. The 1992 musical comedy featuring music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and an updated book by Ken Ludwig was a perfect evening of entertainment in the incredibly talented hands (and tap dancing feet) of the Shenandoah Summer Music Theater company.

All of the submitted plays are judged by a selection committee during the winter months. Out of the hundreds of shows submitted, four plays are chosen for performance.
