Rove McManus is set to join the cast of Friday Night Comedy at The Butterfly Club this Friday for an intimate 76-seat audience. FNC is arguably Melbourne's most unique live comedy game show with audiences invited to shape the evening via votes and heckles from their smart-phones.

Friday Night Comedy has been running at The Butterfly Club for the last 8 months. Part stand-up, part improvisation, part wrestling-championship-style battle. Each week, a different line-up of comedians duke it out with each other, helped and hindered by the audience. Each week someone is awarded the championship belt, recently featured on Instructables

The show features purpose-built software designed by Simone Pulga (director of The Butterfly Club). The audience are encouraged to contribute suggestions, themes, and sentences to the games via their smartphone. These contributions are completely anonymous, free to send in, and are live-projected onto a screen on stage.

Games included:

Kick It In The Dictionary: - Audience invent fake words and the comedians must define them

Hell In A Cellphone: - Audiences are asked to send in their harshest heckles, and comedians need to cope with the onslaught.

It's A Set-Up: The comic has forgotten their setlist notes, the audience suggest headlines for each section of their improvised routine.

FNC is the brainchild of Clayton Steele - widely acknowledged as the "Yoda of comedy". Steele has spent the last twenty years tirelessly running comedy rooms around Perth and Melbourne and unearthing a large number of comedians who are now house hold names - including Rove McManus himself.

This week's line-up includes Simon Taylor, Victoria Healy, Corey White, Alasdair Tremblay-Birchall and Rove McManus. Tickets are extremely limited and bookings are advisable.
