The one and only fabulously flamboyant Ophelia Sol is back to prove the haters wrong at the baby shower of the year! Witness the spectacular birth of the Unicorn Mermaid, the mythical creature we know so much about yet have never laid eyes on because is doesn't exist.

Investigating the moral injustices surrounding 'designer babies' in a world that competes for perfection, Ophelia will create a supernatural being that is more fantastic and talented than everyone else's child. She will have you laughing, screaming, and wishing you owned as much pink plastic crap as her.

Filled with glitter and yummy mummies, dance numbers and hairy monsters, Ophelia will take you on an immersive journey exploring her fears surrounding motherhood and the future of the human race. Pulling apart why women are judged for conforming or not conforming to this gender role of being caring mothers.

Green Room nominee for Best Performer Ruby Hughes presents her third solo show as the outrageous Ophelia Sol. Ruby has been performing as her alter ego since 2014, creating work that challenges form, social binaries and stigmas.

'The Birth of the Unicorn Mermaid' dissects what it means to be a good mother, a bad mother, and everything in between. Opening on the 25th of September and running for only one week as apart of The Melbourne Fringe Festival. Bookings recommended. After all it is the baby shower of the year! Don't miss out on this hilarious and heartwarming performance.
