The lies men tell themselves to stay alive will be revealed in Lawrence Mooney's hilarious tell-all confessional Lawrence Mooney is a Stupid Liar. Part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from Thursday 27 March - Saturday 12 April at Melbourne Town Hall - Mini Main, Mooney's stand-up will expose the white lies men spin to get through marriage, parenthood and their careers.

Lawrence Mooney is a Stupid Liar will examine the functional stupidity of one man as he seeks to 'guild the lily' in order to smooth the bumps out of life. With his 50th birthday fast approaching and a newly arrived baby, Mooney, in his celebrated self-reflexive (and self-deprecating) style, shows that on occasion even the best-intended fibs get out of control and take on a life of their own.

Named Best National Act at 2013 Perth International Comedy Festival, Mooney is a veteran of the stand-up circuit and television. The inimitable host of ABC2's Dirty Laundry Live returning in 2014, Mooney has also appeared on ABC's It's a Date, Agony of Life and Problems.

Tickets from $22. For tickets and more information ticketmaster.com.au or call 1300 660 013.
