Here is a rare opportunity to hear the extraordinary wind faculty of the Butler School of Music, all internationally acclaimed artists, perform together as a wind quintet. In a unique collaboration, Texas Performing Arts has partnered with UT’s College of Fine Arts and the International Horn Society in commissioning three new works for wind quintet, to be premiered in this concert celebrating the career of longtime Professor of Oboe, Rebecca Henderson. These new works, written by Butler School of Music composition faculty members Donald Grantham, and Dan Welcher, and Yevgeniy Sharlat are conceived as companion pieces to Samuel Barber’s Iconic Summer Music, and will be presented along with that work to create a cycle of Four Seasons for Wind Quintet. This is a program not to be missed.
