When asked how long Steve Cadwell has been working on his one-man show, he replied, "All my life." The show, Wild and Precious, is Cadwell's one-man multi-media performance that chronicles his personal journey as a gay man.

Cadwell is now living in the Boston area, but he has local roots. His parents, John and Mary Cadwell, were longtime residents of Pittsford. His brother Ashley lives in Middlebury. Last spring, Cadwell approached Town Hall Theater with the idea to bring his successful show back to his family and friends in Vermont.

The theatrical memoir includes song, dance, poetry and storytelling. The play makes its way through the Stonewall riots, the AIDS crisis and the legalization of gay marriage in Massachusetts. The journey may be his own, but it encompasses the last 50 years of the gay rights movement.

"It's an amazing arc that I've lived through, so I'm using my life as a case study of social progress," said Cadwell. "This is an example of our ability to grow as a culture."

Wild and Precious will be presented at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater tonight, November 11 at 7 pm. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) and at the door.
