Deadline reports that Nina Arianda has signed on to be a series regular in Amazon's upcoming original drama series TRIAL, from executive producer David E. Kelley. The Tony winner joins previously announced lead actor Billy Bob Thornton in the project. William Hurt, Olivia Thirlby, Maria Bello and Sarah Wynter also star.

Co-written by Kelly, the legal drama will follow "Billy McBride (Thornton), a big and powerful lawyer who has become a shell of his former self after losing a case that saw an innocent kid murdered. His guilt-driven alcoholism cost him his wife and his job as his longtime partner Cooper turned on him and kicked him out of their law firm. Still hanging onto his dry charisma, Billy is now going head-to-head against Cooper, bringing a case against his former partner, which begins to stir in him his old ambition."

Arianda will portray Patty Solis-Papagian, described as "a fast-talking, go-getter attorney."

The actress most recently appeared on Broadway in Sam Shepard's FOOL FOR LOVE and will soon be seen on the big screen in Paramount's Florence Foster Jenkins co-starring Meryl Streep. Her other film credits include Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, Tom McCarthy's Win Win, Vera Farmiga's Higher Ground, and Brett Ratner's Tower Heist. She received a Tony Award for her performance in VENUS IN FUR.
