Take Root with The Umbrella Co.: A New York premier and collaboration by Stephanie Booth and Jessica Parks, this evening-length presentation will embrace expansive, athletic movement challenging the capacity of the human body and weave eloquence, whimsy and a narrative throughout the work. Umbrella Co. performers approach works with soul, sweat and sophistication. Soak in this piece that is sure to be sensational!

The Umbrella Co. (TUC) was founded by Stephanie Booth and Jessica Parks in 2010. The company recently presented its first season at University Settlement with the generous support of donors, family and friends. TUC has also performed at Green Space, Movement Research/Open Performance, Dixon Place (NYC10), The Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts, PMT House of Dance Monthly Series, the Amalgamate Artists Series, and was a featured company in the Exquisite Corpse Festival in 2011. This summer, the company performed at the SLDT Dance Festival in Queens and the Detroit Dance City Festival.

The Umbrella Co. is a New York City based non-profit organization dedicated to creating work that progressively moves the medium of dance forward. The company works with a vocabulary that combines influences from classical ballet to post-modernism, to produce a language that is accessible to non-dancers and dancers alike. The Umbrella Co. makes dance that comments on social and psychological conditions and aims to join in the larger conversations of humanity.

FERTILE GROUND is a monthly new works showcase for emerging and established artists now in its 8th season, producing the work of over 50 choreographers each year. This non-curated performance event features five-six choreographers each evening, and includes a post-performance discussion with wine and cheese, moderated by Green Space's Artistic Director, Valerie Green.
