Sister and Miss Lexie, the play with music adapted from the works of the legendary Mississippi author Eudora Welty, will change its curtain times starting Thursday, December 1st for performances at Downstairs at The Flea Theatre (41 White Street, between Broadway and Church Streets).

Written by David Kaplan, and Brenda Currin, the 25th Anniversary production is produced by The Flea Theater (Jim Simpson/Artistic Director and Carol Ostrow/Producing Director) in association with Edwin W. Schloss.  The new performance schedule will be in effect through its closing performance slated for Sunday, December 18th.

Performed by Currin and pianist Ayako Morino, directed and designed by Mr. Kaplan, Sister and Miss Lexie "features the relentless postmistress from the comic classic "Why I Live at the P.O." alongside a failed schoolteacher from the novel Losing Battles. Set in various locations around the State of Mississippi, every word is written by Welty, sometimes stitched together to the music of Beethoven. Eudora Welty's writing bears witness to the rapture of the commonplace. She was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1909. She wrote five novels, many short stories and essays.  Her writing gives evidence that faced with hardship the human spirit is irrepressible.  In the summer of 2001 she passed away, honored as one of America's treasures," according to press notes.

The new schedule is: Thursday through Sunday at 7PM & Sundays matinees at 3PM through December 18th.  There will no performances the week of November 24

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased by calling 212-352-3101 or visiting www.TheaterMania.com.
