Second Thought Theatre continues its 10th anniversary season with the highly acclaimed play Nocturne by Adam Rapp. Miranda Parham makes her directorial debut with Nocturne, in which a former piano prodigy recounts the haunting incident that tore his family apart. Nocturne begins with previews on April 2 and runs through April 26 at Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus. Tickets to Nocturne are on sale now.

"Adam Rapp's mastery of language is well-known. What excites me about this particular play is its unapologetically straightforward storytelling," says Parham. "His writing is economical yet rhythmic, and he has crafted this tragic, beautiful play in which a man finally expels his grief after fifteen years of silence. Witnessing such bravery on stage is astonishing.

Fifteen years ago, a seventeen-year-old-boy and his younger sister were in a terrible car accident; the result was devastating. Nocturne gives voice to the boy, now thirty-two years old, as he navigates his way through the accident, the aftermath, its effect on his family, and his escape to New York City. DTC Associate Artist Drew Wall stars as the former piano prodigy. Wall is joined on stage by Tara Magill, the haunting image of his younger sister.

Fresh off of their critically acclaimed production of On the Eve at Theatre Three, Home By Hovercraft's Seth and Shawn Magill will be making their STT debuts with Nocturne - Seth as the associate set designer and Shawn as the composer and sound designer. Aaron Johansen returns as lighting designer, and props are designed by Samantha Rios.

"The poetry of this work is a composer's dream," said sound designer Shawn Magill. "I was thrilled when Second Thought asked me to create the soundscape and compose original music to accompany this haunting journey."

After the nearly sold-out run of the wildly popular Cock, patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets early to guarantee their chance to see Nocturne. Nocturne opens with previews on Wednesday, April 2 at 7:30pm. Opening and press night is Friday, April 4, at 8:00pm. The PWYC performances of Nocturne will take place Wednesday, April 2; Thursday, April 3; Monday, April 7; Monday, April 14 and Monday, April 21 at 7:30pm. PWYC tickets are available at the box office the day of the performance only and are subject to availability. Tickets to the PWYC performance can be reserved at the regular ticket price online at 2TT.co. Nocturne runs through April 26. Tickets for Nocturne are on sale now and are available online at 2TT.co or by phone at (866) 811-4111.
