Acclaimed theatrical producer and director Richard Jay-Alexander will join The Broadway Dreams Foundation creative team in Atlanta, Omaha and Philadelphia this summer as part of "True Colors," The Broadway Dreams Foundation Summer Intensives Tour. Jay-Alexander will stage the concerts in Omaha and Philadelphia.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), a national non-profit performing arts training program, teaches America's youth how to kick start their career through unique, week-long performance intensives taught by Broadway's brightest stars. Attendees receive first-rate training in acting, dance and vocal performance before participating alongside their Broadway idols in a one-night concert event open to the public. Ticket information for the Summer Intensive Concert Series and the Broadway faculty roster will be announced shortly.

Jay-Alexander will audition students in preparation for Atlanta's Woodruff Center concert and stage concerts for Omaha's Holland Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 16, 2011 and Philadelphia's Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, August 6, 2011.

BDF Executive Director Annette Tanner said, "Richard's unique skill set as a director and producer of Broadway productions and live stage shows for the world's most respected artists will be a tremendous asset to our program. His impressive abilities align perfectly with what The Broadway Dreams Foundation sets out to do each summer in cities across America. We were thrilled that Richard agreed to join our team and we cannot wait for him to share his extraordinary talents with our students and audiences."

Richard Jay-Alexander echoed Annette's excitement by saying, "I was thrilled to be asked to join the Broadway Dreams Foundation team, which is doing something I have always believed in - encouraging andhelping young people who are passionate about performing to focus and learn how to achieve their goals. I was one of ‘those kids' but when I was young, nothing remotely like this was available in or near the small upstate New York town I grew up in. For me, to be able to bring
my knowledge, talent and skills to young people, who already know that this is what they want to do with their lives, is a great way for me to give back for the good luck I've had during my own 38 year (so far) career."

Jay-Alexander's credits include directing the recent star-studded Hollywood Bowl concert production of Guys and Dolls, Barbra Streisand's most recent concert tour and concert productions for Bette Midler, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Bernadette Peters, Russell Watson and Donna McKechnie. He also served as the Executive Producer for the original Broadway, touring and Canadian companies of Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon and Five Guys Named Moe. He is currently in Las Vegas working with Donny and Marie for their new show at the Flamingo.

Over three thousand students have participated in the BDF program in cities such as Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, San Diego and Omaha. Students have gone on to perform in regional, national and Broadway productions including Disney's The Lion King,
Spring Awakening and Bring it On. Other students have pursued careers in the arts or attend prestigious theatre programs in universities throughout the United States.

The Broadway Dreams Foundation offers significant scholarships to hundreds of students each year, ensuring that all qualified students are able to realize their Broadway Dreams regardless of their financial status.
