Pride-Themed KINKY BOOTS Social Media Images Released
Visually appealing and eye-grabbing new social media images have been unveiled in honor of acceptance-raising awareness by 2013 Best Musical winner KINKY BOOTS in the wake of a recent firestorm of controversy for the equality-for-all-themed show.
The celebrated company of KINKY BOOTS recently performed on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, inciting some conservatives to call out the cast, creators and producers for presenting supposed inappropriate content for a purportedly family-friendly telecast due to the LGBT themes of KINKY BOOTS and the transvestite/transgender elements it showcases.
New social media images flaunt the show's leggy logo along with some particularly inspiring slogans, proclaiming, "You change the world when you change your mind" and "Live out loud!"
KINKY BOOTS is a screen-to-stage adaptation of the 2005 British indie film featuring a score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, who took home a 2013 Best Score Tony Award for her efforts on the musical collaboration with playwright, actor and activist Harvey Fierstein and director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell.
The official description of Kinky Boots is as follows: "Charlie Price (Tony nominee Stark Sands) has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Tony winner Billy Porter). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world. Featuring direction and Tony-winning choreography by Jerry Mitchell and a spectacularly uplifting book by four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, KINKY BOOTS is the must-see new musical that proves that sometimes, the best way to fit in is to stand out!"
