People's Champs play Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 2 on Friday, April 8, and Announce Debut EP Release Party on Friday, May 6 at Pianos!

People's Champs, a brand-new band mixing experimental rock and soul with African and Latin grooves, play a late-night, 1am set at Rockwood's new Stage 2 on Friday, April 8. They also officially announce their Debut EP Release Party on Friday, May 6th at Pianos at 11pm.

Enamored and obsessed with roots dance music from all over the world, People's Champs mix jazz, hip-hop, rock and soul from the United States, Latin America and Africa to create a FRESH NEW SOUND.

Featuring an all-star cast of musicians, members of People's Champs perform and record regularly with Beyonce Knowles, Baja and Dry Eye Crew, Blitz the Ambassador, Slavic Soul Party!, Meta and the Cornerstones, The Superpowers, Baye Kouyate, Jo Jo Kuo, Nation Beat, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Larkin Grimm, The Rex Complex, Cuddle Magic, Afrodesia and many others.

People's Champs just finished recording its Debut EP at LOHO Studios on the Lower East Side, a privately owned studio which has also recorded the likes of Willie Nelson, Ryan Adams, Roseanne Cash, Blues Traveler, The Everly Brothers, Art Garfunkel, John Mayer, Lindsay Lohan, Joan Jett, Yo La Tengo, Patti Smith, Phish, Joey Ramone & Blakroc and others. The EP, yet to be titled, will be released on May 6, 2011. People's Champs will support the record with an East Coast Tour.

Making quick work of the NYC Scene, People's Champs have recently performed at Zebulon, Barbes, Rockwood Music Hall, Drom, Nublu, Rose Live Music, numerous community events around NYC and some random Bushwick warehouses.
