Having seen most of the nominees for Best Actress In A Musical I do think that the competition this year was tough. While I thoroughly enjoyed Zrinka Cvitesic's performance in Once I felt that she really was no match for Rosalie Craig in The Light Princess.

While The Light Princess had a limited run and received mixed reviews (note: I loved it) all critics agreed that Craig's portrayal of Althea was simply stunning.

Some may dismiss the 'floating' elements of the role as a novelty or gimmick but I felt that it really showed the versatility of Rosalie Craig. I'm not a performer myself but I can't imagine belting out the songs the way she did while suspended upside down in mid-air is an easy feat.

I did think that Cvitesic gave a good performance in Once but in my opinion Rosalie Craig truly deserved the Olivier here.
