Nicole Wolverton's “The Trajectory of Dreams,” Celebrates One-Year Anniversary With Author Events and Promotion

Lela White's life hasn't been the same since the space shuttle disintegrated into a bright blue sky when she was a ten-year-old girl. Or since her mother disappeared without a word or explanation. Years later, the world has moved on, but Lela hasn't. Her precisely-ordered world revolves around both events. She can't forget. She can't let go. She can only prepare for the worst: the day she has to kill to keep the space shuttle from exploding again.

A novel that explores mental illness and the impact of national tragedies, Nicole Wolverton's "The Trajectory of Dreams" is told from the point of view of a gravely mentally ill woman whose delusions compel her to break into astronauts' homes to watch them sleep. The book was chosen as #15 on Typographical Era's Best Reads of 2013. The New York Journal of Books called it "at times uncomfortable, frightening, and anxiety inducing, but always entertaining"; Publisher's Weekly praised its "skillful mainstream examination of a psychotic woman's final descent into insanity."

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the book's release, the publisher will be offering a special two-week discount (April 26-May 10). All electronic distributors (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo) will discount The Trajectory of Dreams to 99 cents, and Bookbub will announce the discount to its subscribers in the category of Literary Fiction.

Wolverton also has two upcoming author events this spring. She will appear Saturday, April 26 at the Rosemont College Book Festival in Rosemont, Pennsylvania. The festival is from 10 am-3 pm, and also features a children's story hour, a graphic novel and comic books panel, and dozens of area writers. Readings from "The Trajectory of Dreams" will begin at 12: 24; signed copies are available all day.

On Saturday, May 17, Wolverton will take part in Indies First Storytime Day, a national celebration of Children's Book Week and independent bookstores, at Bethany Beach Books in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Authors and illustrators will read children's books all day, with Wolverton scheduled to read at 2 pm.

Since publication of her first novel, Wolverton, a long-time resident of the Philadelphia, PA area, has continued writing. A new short story, "Them Oranges," is available in the April 2014 issue of Jersey Devil Press. She is currently at work on her next novel, a young adult thriller; she is represented by Michelle Witte of Mansion Street Literary Management.

The Trajectory of Dreams is available in paperback and all electronic formats, DRM-free.
