Walt Disney once exclaimed, "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." Inspired by a common interest she shares with her son-reading time and bath time-and her firm belief that reading to a child is one of the greatest gifts of all, author Jaclyn Vercillo shares to all young readers the treasures she and her son discovered in books by publishing her first children's picture book titled A Tub for Sub.

"My son Ryan inspired me to write this book. We went to our local book store to find a book about submarines and we could not find one. Reading is one of our favorite things to do as well as bath time. That is how I thought of Sub. It is an adorable story of a lovable bath toy," says Vercillo. "I also think reading to children is a true gift and this book is a fun way to get children excited to read."

Vercillo's new storybook helps young readers have courage in overcoming fears. In this story, mainly set in the bathroom and the bath tub, children will meet Sub, the lovable submarine bath toy that is ironically afraid of the tub. He is worried that he will not fit into the big world of bath time bubbles and toys. He soon realizes, however, that the tub may not be as scary as he thinks it is. In the end, he courageously overcomes his fears for a heroic end.

An amusing and poetic excerpt from A Tub for Sub:

I'm nervous to meet these toys.
What if they don't like me at all?
And that boy holding the pirate sword...
Well he's almost three feet tall!

With its interesting and relatable plot, colorful and poetic storytelling, and most especially its adorably unique hero with comical quirks, A Tub for Sub is an encouraging tale that assures children that it is OK to be nervous about trying new things, while exhorting them to have courage and never let their fears hold them back. This is exactly the kind of book Disney was referring to-a great treasure for children and adults alike.

"I want readers to have a fun experience reading this book with children or having children read the story to them. Reading is an adventure and I hope they enjoy the adventure with Sub," Vercillo adds.
