The American Theatre Wing and XM Satellite Radio proudly present an interview with Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane, on their weekly theatrical interview show, "Downstage Center," on XM's On Broadway (XM Channel 28).

Lane will appear as the special guest on Friday, February 22 at 6 p.m. The show will repeat on Saturday, February 23 at noon, Sunday, February 24 at 7 p.m., and Wednesday, February 27 at midnight. The program becomes available as streaming audio and podcast from www.americantheatrewing.org beginning Monday afternoon, February 25.

Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane charts the course of his career, from touring New Jersey schools in the historical musical Jerz to starring on Broadway as the President of the United States in David Mamet's comedy November.  Along the way, he recalls losing out on the leading role in the original Little Shop of Horrors; making his Broadway debut in George C. Scott's production of Present Laughter; discusses a few of the quirks of his next big show, the musical Merlin; considers his longstanding partnerships with both playwright Terrence McNally (revealing the only play that McNally specifically wrote for him) and director Jerry Zaks; chronicles his challenging and charmed experience as Max Bialystock in the musical The Producers on Broadway and in London; and reflects on the impact of Butley -- first when he saw it as a teenager, and later when he took on the title role in the play's Broadway revival.

Lane can currently be seen on Broadway in David Mamet's comedy, November. His recent Broadcast credits include Simon Gray's Butley and Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. His acclaimed performances in The Producers and A Funny Ting Happened on the Way to the Forum both earned him Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Among his other Broadway credits are: 'Buzz' in Terrence McNally's Love! Valour! Compassion!; 'Max Prince' in Neil Simon's Laughter on the 23rd Floor; 'Nathan Detroit' in Guys and Dolls; Present Laughter and On Borrowed Time with George C. Scott; Merlin; The Wind in the Willows; Some Americans Abroad and the Roundabout Theater Company's revival of The Man Who Came to Dinner.

Each new "Downstage Center" is regularly broadcast at 6 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays at 12 a.m. (all times EST). Following the initial run on XM, each program is made available for free, on-demand, internationally as both streaming audio and podcast on ATW's Web site, www.americantheatrewing.org.
