The new crime thriller "Beatrice Belladonna's Black Magic Web" (published by Xlibris) by Mary Burton King takes readers into the extreme world of a sociopathic serial killer on death row and begs the question: Are people born evil or does their environment make them that way?

King created Beatrice Belladonna - a voodoo priestess, black widow serial killer and cop killer - based on more than 20 years' experience in criminal investigative police work.

Just months from her state-sanctioned execution date, Beatrice accepts an offer for a televised interview. Yearning for posthumous notoriety, Beatrice tells her villainous story with a cold-blooded lack of remorse, revealing the elation she felt after each kill.

Early in the interview, Beatrice questions whether the interviewer believes people are born evil or become evil based on the circumstances of their lives. She then reveals a tragic childhood marked by sexual abuse committed by her stepfather and her mother's abandonment, attributing her life of crime to the nastiness she knew as a child.

"It has all the elements of a great novel: murder, intrigue, mystery and voodoo," King says. "It reminds readers to beware of alluring, sexy vixens bearing gifts."
