WNYC reports that "starting on Monday, January 9, the MTA will be suspending all 4/5/6 subway service between Grand Central/42nd Street and Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, in both directions, for four consecutive weeknights, from 10pm to 5am."

"The late-night weeknight ridership is approximately 250,000," MTA spokesperson Deirdre Parker said. The change is likely to impact many theatregoers seeking postshow transportation; though there are alternate routes, the MTA estimates that the shutdown will add about twenty minutes to a usual travel time.

Though the MTA has no plans to operate shuttle buses, the Times Square Shuttle will be operating all night, and there will be additional N/Q/R trains standing by.
