Cancer Support Community, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, education, and hope for those impacted by cancer, will host their Annual Young Leadership Council Benefit – the Red Ball – on Friday, October 19, 2012 from 7:30 – 11:00pm. The event will take place at Crimson, located at 915 Broadway at 21st Street. Celebrity Honorary Chairs include: Lindsay Mendez, Broadway Performer; David Alan Basche, Actor; Alysia Reiner, Actress and Filmmaker; and Dhani Jones, Founder of BowTie Cause and Former NFL Linebacker.

The event aims to raise funds to support the mission of the Cancer Support Community: to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. The evening is hosted by the Young Leadership Council (YLC) – a group of young professionals who represent a new generation of leaders who are advancing the cause of social and emotional support for people living with cancer, by raising awareness and organizing philanthropic initiatives to benefit the work of the Cancer Support Community.

"While the Red Ball raises much needed funds to enable the Cancer Support Community to fulfill its mission, it also teaches its supporters and attendees how important it is that society be cognizant of the psychosocial aspect of cancer care," says Melanie Sarver, a member of the Young Leadership Council. "Without this event, I, like so many others, would never have realized how important the services and support provided by the Cancer Support Community are to the survival and recovery of those impacted by cancer."

In addition to hors d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails provided by Grand Marnier, Zyr Russian Vodka, Bulldog Gin, Haber's Tonic, Atlantic Wine & Spirits and Manhattan Beer, and desserts provided by e.e.cookies; attendees will enjoy special performances by Banned From The Zoo and Ryan Oakes, Conjuror. Attendees will also be among the first to try on and own a piece of the Cancer Support Community's private label jewelry collection, hand-crafted by Philadelphia-based jewelry designer, John Wind; as well as signature CSC BowTies designed by Dhani Jones' BowTie Cause organization. There will also be a luxury raffle and silent auction featuring a variety of desirable items including tickets to Broadway's newest hit Bring It On and its longest-running show The Phantom of the Opera, which will celebrate its 25th year on Broadway in January 2013.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Cancer Support Community. Ticket prices range from $100 - $250. Space is limited. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.CancerSupportCommunity.org/RedBall.
