Just in time for Roundabout's Broadway revival, Yale University Press has released a multimedia edition of Eugene O'Neill's LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, edited by William Davies King (professor of theater at the University of California at Santa Barbara), with Foreword by Broadway star Jessica Lange.

O'Neill's autobiographical play LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT is widely regarded as his masterpiece. This enhanced e-book edition builds upon the critical edition edited by King, offering students and theater artists an interactive guide to the text.

A documentary archive of letters, notes, diary entries, and photographs serves to deepen readers' understanding of and appreciation for this American classic.

In addition, video of full stage performances as well as specially staged workshop rehearsals of key scenes, featuring two-time Tony Award winner James Naughton, video of full stage performances of key scenes and video tours of Tao House and the Monte Cristo Cottage, narrated by King, enhance the text and are available exclusively to readers of this edition -- and rare archival audio allows us to hear O'Neill himself reading from the play.

Listen to a sample of the audio below!

"Extraordinary...Every O'Neill enthusiast will want to own this multimedia edition of the play to experience the photographs, filmed rehearsals, notes, essays, references, definitions, letters, and recordings -- including O'Neill's voice reading from his work. An enduring fascination with our greatest playwright is well served by this magnificent compilation," remarked Brian Dennehy.

"Mary Tyrone...No part I have played on stage or in film has ever captured me more," writes Lange in the Foreword.

Starring alongside Lange in the Broadway revival will be Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Gabriel Byrne as "James Tyrone," Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon as "James Tyrone, Jr.," and Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. as "Edmund Tyrone." Jonathan Kent will direct, as part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season. LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT will begin preview performances on Sunday, April 3, 2016, and open officially on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd Street).

Elegant in its simplicity yet limitless in its scope, LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT is the tale of an ordinary summer's day with extraordinary consequences. Drawing so heavily from the author's personal history that it could only be produced posthumously, the story of the Tyrone family and their battle to unearth-and conceal-a lifetime of secrets continues to reveal itself to audiences as one of the most profound and powerful plays ever brought to the stage.

Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama four times and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1936.
