John Hauser, formerly Director of the Rehearsal Department of the Metropolitan Opera, has joined the George London Foundation for Singers in the new position of Artistic Director, assisting the foundation's president, Nora London, with artistic planning. Stephanie Lamprea continues as General Administrator. Founded in 1971, the New York-based George London Foundation supports and nurtures young opera singers with an annual competition and recital series.

"John's experience and insight will be of wonderful help to our work in the development of young singers," said Nora London. "I am delighted to have such a knowledgeable and discerning colleague join our team."

The 2015-16 season marks two milestones for the foundation: the 45th annual George London Foundation Awards Competition, which gives George London Awards to young singers each year; and the 20th year of its acclaimed recital series, which presents pairs of singers, both established stars and recent George London Award winners, at The Morgan Library & Museum. The season launches on October 18 with a duo recital by soprano Erin Wall and baritone Steven LaBrie.

John Hauser was, from 2008 to 2015, Director of the Rehearsal Department at the Metropolitan Opera. Prior to that he was a Managerial Associate at Columbia Artists Management, collaborating with Matthew Epstein. He has also been Associate Artistic Administrator at Lyric Opera of Chicago, as well as working for over a decade in management for American Airlines. He studied vocal performance and opera at Southern Methodist University and The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana.

The goal of the London Foundation, the support and nurturing of young singers, was an abiding interest of the great American bass-baritone George London, who devoted a great part of the time and energy of his later years to this purpose. Initially created under the auspices of the National Opera Institute, the George London Awards program has been administered since 1990 directly by the Foundation as a living legacy to George London's own exceptional talent and generosity. www.georgelondon.org
