Award-winning composer and lyricist Joe Iconis will take the stage on Monday, May 5, 2014 at New World Stages as part of Murder for Two's newly launched concert series Murderous Musical Mondays. The unplugged concert, which will feature both new songs and fan favorites, will take place immediately following the 7pm performance of Murder for Two at New World Stages (Stage 5 - 340 West 50th Street) on Monday, May 5th, 2014. Admittance to the concert is free to all those with tickets to the May 5th performance of Murder for Two. Tickets are available now on Telecharge.com.

Musical theater rabble-rouser JOE ICONIS (writer of The Black Suits) is proud to bring his unique mash-up of showtune cabaret and rock and roll jamboree to New World Stages. Join Mr. Iconis and his merry band of musical theater punks as they roar their way through a rare unplugged set of his incendiary songs in an intimate and explosive performance that will offer fans an opportunity to hear some stripped-down versions of the songs they love, along with some brand new joints! Grease up your kazoo, fill your whiskey glass and stay for a while. It's going to be a helluva night.

The concert will feature Liz Lark Brown, Katrina Rose Dideriksen, Seth Eliser, Lauren Marcus, Lance Rubin, Jared Weiss, Jason SweetTooth Williams, and Jeremy Morse with more performers to be announced.

The cast and creative team of the hit Off-Broadway musical Murder for Two are teaming up with some of New York's brightest up and coming composers and BroadwayWorld.com every other Monday night for their spring concert series, Murderous Musical Mondays. The series will take place every other Monday through June. In addition to Iconis, upcoming concerts will feature the works of Sam Carner & Derek Gregor, Ryan Cunningham & Josh Salzman, and the Pace New Musicals Writers' Room, which is being curated by Ryan Scott Oliver. Past concerts featured Murder for Two star Brett Ryback, Alexander Sage Oyen and Ryan Scott Oliver. The current performance schedule is as follows:

Joe Iconis is a musical theater writer and a fixture on the New York cabaret scene. He has been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards, a Lucille Lortel Award, and is the recipient of an Ed Kleban Award, a Jonathan Larson Award, an ASCAP Harold Adamson Lyric Award, and a MAC John Wallowitch Songwriting Award. Joe's songs appeared on Season 2 of NBC's "Smash" and his writing has been featured in The New York Times. He is the author of The Black Suits (Center Theater Group, Barrington Stage Company), the rock and roll Spaghetti Western musical Bloodsong of Love (Ars Nova, NAMT), ReWrite (Urban Stages, Goodspeed Opera House), Theaterworks USA's The Plant That Ate Dirty Socks and We The People. The original cast recording of his theatrical concert Things To Ruin and his rock record The Joe Iconis Rock and Roll Jamboree are both available on Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records. He is currently working on a musical adaptation of Ned Vizzini's Be More Chill for Two River Theater (with book-writer Joe Tracz), a musical about Hunter S. Thompson for La Jolla Playhouse (with book-writer Gregory S. Moss), and an exploitation musical called Annie Golden: Bounty Hunter, Yo! (with book-writers Lance Rubin and Jason SweetTooth Williams.) Joe is greatly inspired by Robert Altman, Dolly Parton, The Muppets, and The Family of artists he frequently surrounds himself with. www.MrJoeIconis.com

Everyone is a suspect in Murder for Two, a hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist: one actor (Brett Ryback) investigates the crime, the other plays all of the suspects (Jeff Blumenkrantz) and they both play the piano! A zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery, this 90-minute whodunit is a highly theatrical duet loaded with killer laughs.

MURDER FOR TWO previously played a limited summer engagement at Second Stage Theatre Uptown (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director, Casey Reitz, Executive Director and Christopher Burney, Curator and Associate Artistic Director) at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 and officially opened Thursday, July 25th. It was extended twice, due to popular demand, and ultimately played there through Sunday, August 25th before transferring to its current home, New World Stages.

The original cast recording of Murder for Two, produced by Joel Moss and executive produced by Kurt Deutsch, was released digitally on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 and in stores on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The physical CD features complete lyrics, never-before-seen photos, a show synopsis by creators Joe Kinosian and Kellen Blair and an essay by Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz.
