INTO THE WOODS' Meryl Streep Receives 'Best Villain' MTV Movie Award Nomination

MTV today revealed the nominees for the "2015 MTV Movie Awards," in which Guardians of the Galaxy will go head-to-head with an American Sniper and fierce females, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Shailene Woodley, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson will face off for the coveted golden popcorn.

INTO THE WOODS star Meryl Streep was among the nominees in the category of 'Best Villain' for her role of 'The Witch' in the big screen adaptation of the Sondheim classic. Other Broadway stars receiving nods were CABARET's Emma Stone for Best Female Performance in the Broadway-themed "Birdman", and ELEPHANT MAN's Bradley Cooper, who received a nod as Best Male Performance in "American Sniper" as well as Best Duo, alongside Vin Diesel, in "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Click here for the full list of nominees. Beginning today, fans can cast their votes for their favorites at www.MovieAwards.MTV.com through Saturday, April 11. Voting for "Movie of the Year" will continue throughout the live broadcast of the show.

Hosted by Amy Schumer, the telecast will air LIVE on Sunday, April 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT from Nokia Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles, California.

This year's nominees span every film genre from dystopian universes (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Maze Runner) to heart-felt coming of age stories (The Fault In Our Stars and Boyhood), out-of-this-world comedies (Guardians of the Galaxy, Neighbors, The Interview, The Wedding Ringer and Top Five), real-life heroes (Selma and American Sniper) and more.
