Carole Bayer Sager will host a conversation with HELLO, DOLLY!'s Bette Midler, presented by the 92Y at Kaufmann Concert Hall (Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street) on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 7 p.m.

For five decades Oscar, Grammy and two time Golden Globe winner Carole Bayer Sager has been among the most admired and successful songwriters at work, responsible for her lyrical contributions to some of the most popular songs in the English language including "Nobody Does It Better," "Don't Cry Out Loud," and "That's What Friends Are For."

She's collaborated with and written for a dizzying number of stars including Bette Midler, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Barbra Streisand just to name a few. As she publishes her eagerly awaited memoir, They're Playing Our Song, she joins the legendary actress and entertainer Bette Midler to take a personal look back at her remarkable life and career.

Carole Bayer Sager has written more 400 songs, including such beloved hits as "That's What Friends are For," which won a the Grammy Award for Song of the Year; "Nobody Does It Better;" "A Groovy Kind of Love;" "Don't Cry Out Loud" and "Best That You Can Do," the theme from the movie Arthur, which earned her an Academy Award. She has also received two Golden Globes and earned 15 Grammy nominations. She recorded three solo albums, and she wrote the hit Broadway musical They're Playing Our Song with Marvin Hamlisch. Half of the songs used in the Broadway musical The Boy From Oz, which starred Hugh Jackman and told the story of Peter Allen's life, were co-written by her and Allen. Her memoir, They're Playing Our Song, is being published this autumn. She is a member of the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and her website is carolebayersager.com.

Bette Midler is one of the world's best-loved and most versatile entertainers. Her work has been recognized with four Grammy Awards, two Academy Award nominations, three Emmy Awards, one Tony Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and nine American Comedy Awards. In 2014 she released her latest album, It's The Girls, produced by Marc Shaiman; the following year she made her first major tour in a decade, which included concerts in 22 cities in the US and five cities in the UK. Next April Ms. Midler will return to Broadway as Dolly Levi in a revival of Hello, Dolly!, produced by Scott Rudin and directed by Jerry Zaks. Ms. Midler also continues her work with the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization she created in 1994 that is devoted to bringing abandoned and neglected parks, gardens and open spaces in all five boroughs back to life.
