DREAD AWAKENING, the hit collection of four new horror-influenced plays by some of theatre's most exciting up-and-coming playwrights, will have to close its doors following the Sunday, April 23rd performance at the 45th Street Theatre (354 West 45th Street).

A three-week limited run, DREAD AWAKENING began performances on April 6th and played to mostly positive reviews and excellent word-of-mouth. These four provocative new plays struck a chord with audiences, many of whom left the theatre arguing over which was their favorite. However, due to the regulations of the Equity Showcase Code, the show cannot extend in its current incarnation.

The four plays that make up DREAD AWAKENING include:

Bloody Mary by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, directed by Pat Diamond
pearls by Clay McLeod Chapman, directed by Arin Arbus
Treesfall by Justin Swain, directed by Jessica Davis-Irons
Sleep Mask by Eric Sanders, directed by Amanda Charlton

The cast features: Danny Deferrari, Robert Funaro ("The Sopranos"), Jenny Gammello, Abe Goldfarb, Meredith Holzman, Christianna Nelson, Joe Plummer, Jedadiah Schultz, Margie Stokley, with Heather Lea Anderson and Marjorie Young. The set is designed by Wilson Chin, lighting by Marcus Doshi, costumes by Candice Thompson, and sound by Mark Huang.

The producers (The Thursday Problem, Michelle Bossy, Brian Flanagan, and Alana Karpoff) have garnered serious interest in an off-Broadway transfer, and talks are in the works to bring DREAD AWAKENING to a wider audience soon.
