Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced that tickets for the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy, will be available beginning today (July 7), exclusively to American Express cardholders; tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 16 at midnight and can be purchased at Telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200.

Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave star in this classic American play, which begins previews October 7, 2010 at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening night set for Monday, October 25. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), this 16-week limited engagement will run through Saturday, January 29, 2011.

Mr. Uhry's classic play is a timeless, searing, funny, and ultimately hopeful meditation on race relations in America, told through the complex relationship between two of popular culture's most enduring characters. When Daisy Werthan, a widowed, 72-year-old Jewish woman living in midcentury Atlanta, is deemed too old to drive, her son hires Hoke Colburn, an African American man, to serve as her chauffeur. What begins as a troubled and hostile pairing, soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all the societal boundaries placed between them.

From its landmark Off-Broadway production in 1987 to the remarkable success of the Oscar-winning film version (4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture), Driving Miss Daisy has become one of the most beloved American stories of the late twentieth century.

Driving Miss Daisy will play the following performance schedule: Monday, Wednesday - Saturday at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (From October 7 - 25, Tuesday performances begin at 8:00 p.m.) Tickets ($65 - $125) will be available via Telecharge.com and beginning September 9, will also be available at the box office of the Golden Theatre.
