In celebration of the new Project Mah Jongg exhibition at the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, the Museum presents The Future Mah Jongg Players of Majestic Isles on Sunday, May 16 at 2:30 P.M. Comedians Cory Kahaney, Jessica Kirson, and Dina Pearlman will weave an afternoon of comedy and stories about mah jongg and the mah jongg players they love. The program is hosted by self-proclaimed "Oriental Yenta" Esther Goodhart.

Tickets are $15, $12 students/seniors, and $10 members and are available online at www.mjhnyc.org or by calling 646.437.4202.

Says Kahaney, "You can't be a Jewish woman and not have had mah jongg touch your life in some way." Created specifically for the Museum of Jewish Heritage, this afternoon of comedy will incorporate original storytelling and video.

About Project Mah Jongg
Tiles clacking, players chatting and laughing, exclamations of "Two bam!" "Three crack!" and "Four dot!" ... these are the memories shared by women who gather together to play the Chinese game of mah jongg. On view through January 2, 2011, Project Mah Jongg explores the traditions, history, and meaning of the game of mah jongg in Jewish-American culture. Project Mah Jongg illustrates the game's role in community, in the home, and in the relationships formed by Jewish-American women. Visitors will see why it remains popular to this day, passed down from generation to generation-from grandmothers to hipsters and from baby boomers to bohemians.
