The Cornelia Street Café began as an artist bistro and it has remained so for nearly 40 years. It is a wonderful and welcoming venue for artists of every conceivable genre. On Sunday, August 21 at 8:30pm the Café launched a 3-Day Classical Music Festival that began with violinist Gregory Harrington and pianist Matei Varga (piano).

Gregory Harrington & Matei Varga have presented concerts extensively throughout the US and abroad. They recently finished a multi city tour of China. The duo performed a diverse selection of classical and film music from the scores of BBC's "Sherlock", "Lost", "Once", Michael Nymans "The Piano" to the virtuoso and classical sounds of Bazzini's "Le Ronde de Lutins" and Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata.

The event continues tonight, August 22, with pianist Melody Fader and violinist Keiko Tokunaga.

Melody will play solo piano music of Bach and Chopin, including Chopin's Ballades numbers 3 and 4. She will be joined by Keiko for the lush Sonata in A Major for violin and piano.

On August 23rd, violinist Filip Pogady and pianist David Aladashvili will join forces. Filip Pogady has been praised by the press for the beauty of his tone and his lighting like virtuosity and he has earned a reputation for performing a wide range of music across the genres, from the classical violin repertoire to rock and electronic. Mr. Aladashvili has been hailed as a "sensitive virtuoso born for the stage." He has been a prize-winner at many national and international competitions and festivals including the International Competition for Young Pianists in Tbilisi (2001), the Vladimir Spikanov International Festival in Moscow (2005) and the Nikolai Rubinstein Piano Competition in Paris (Grand Prix, 2006), just to name a few.
