The Great Camel Experiment of the Old West, Sherry Alexander, introduces us to a little known event in the mid-1800s that could have changed the American history of the old West. Taken from the diaries and official documents written by the men involved, her book chronicles the true story of the "purchase of camels and importation of dromedaries for military purposes". Readers follow the camels' journey from their arrival in Texas to their use throughout the Southwest. Twenty-two sidebars, three appendices, and twenty-one color photographs mainly taken during live reenactments by Texas Camel Corps make this ebook exciting as well as informative.

"I love the book. Sherry's done a great job of telling a story I'm very familiar with and made me want to keep reading even though I knew the story's end ahead of time." -Doug Baum, owner of Texas Camel Corps.

Sherry Alexander, a Yacolt, Washington writer and author, became fascinated with the use of camels for the military when she discovered the artwork of Edward Vischer, a German born painter and photographer. Vischer traveled with a camel pack train in 1862 and incorporated them in his work. Anxious to know more, she spent hundreds of hours combing through historical documents, photos, and newspapers to piece together the story of The Great Camel Experiment of the Old West.

The Great Camel Experiment of the Old West is one of Collca's BiteSize History titles and will be available on March 12th from most major ebook retailers including Amazon, Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble's Nook store, Google and Kobo.
