Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and international music superstar Jennifer Nettles is making her Broadway debut as 'Roxie Hart' in Chicago. Nettles joins the Broadway company in the starring role for a limited eight-week engagement running through Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.) She is joined by Broadway star Carly Hughes, who makes her debut in the iconic role of jazz slayer Velma Kelly .

The duo just met the press and BroadwayWorld's Richie Ridge was there to chat with both about joining the show and to bring you a special performance preview!

Carly Hughes' other Broadway credits include Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Lucille/ Lead Shirelle), The Book of Mormon, Ghost(Oda Mae u/s, Louise), the revival of Ragtime(u/s Sarah), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Jennifer Nettles is the lead vocalist of the country group Sugarland. The band exploded onto the music scene in 2004 and have worldwide sales of over 22 million (albums and singles) to date; have achieved eight No. 1 singles; and have won numerous awards including trophies from the Grammys, AMAs, ACM Awards, CMT Music Awards, and CMA Awards. Nettles has won five ASCAP awards for her songwriting abilities, and in 2008 individually received a Grammy Award, ACM Award, and CMA Award for penning the emotionally charged, platinum-selling No. 1 hit "Stay."

Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids.
