Three Seattle authorship experts are joining forces to launch a new workshop, Authorship MBA: Mastering the Business of Authorship, featuring practical, hands-on marketing advice for authors. Karen Lynn Maher of LegacyONE Authors, Maria Dykstra of TreDigital, and Margo Myers of Margo Myers Communications work with authors to help them write their books, plan marketing strategies, and build social media platforms to engage readers. The first workshop is in Seattle on February 26, 2014.

"The world of book marketing is changing rapidly with the advent of self-publishing," said Myers. "We can help authors develop new ways to promote their books."

The 'Authorship MBA' workshop will share:

  • 5 Keystones to Successful Authorship
  • How to Develop Your Author Brand
  • Identify Key Topics Around Your Book Content
  • Develop Strategic Engagement on Social Media

"During the past decade working with authors, I've discovered five keystones that create successful authors," said Maher."Writers should know themselves, identify and engage regularly with their audience, have a plan to produce a quality book and create an effective team. Each keystone builds on the next."

As writers make progress on their books, they can establish a marketing plan early on. "Having a promotional plan in place before launching helps writers save time and money," said Myers.

Authors can develop their brand identity, using it to build their online presence and engage with readers. "Social media outreach is important for marketing your book," said Dykstra. "Many people are already on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, but they don't always know the most effective ways to engage. We get people set up online, and take them through tested strategies."

The workshop content is already getting rave reviews. "Your combined backgrounds offer years of experience in communications, marketing and social media," said Karen Robbins, children's author. "Your presentation is well organized and covers a wealth of material. Zillions of thanks for inspiring me!

The 'Authorship MBA' workshop is Wednesday, February 26, from 9am to 1pm at the Women's University Club, 1105 6 th Avenue, Seattle, Washington. Early bird pricing. Lunch and valet parking is included. For more information and to register, please visit http://bit.ly/1eabsk1.
