As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Fey recently announced that she was nearing a deal with Paramount Pictures to develop a musical based upon her hit movie, MEAN GIRLS.

In a March interview with Vulture, Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond revealed: "It's actually becoming a thing! We're taking meetings with people; I've profiled Broadway folks, who are talking to us about it. It's a long process - a year, two years, however long it might take. We watch Smash, so we know how it works!"

On what to expect from the musical, he added: "I think there will be a fair amount of songs to move the action forward, but because Tina's dialogue in the movie is so funny, there will be a lot of room in there for that, for sure. We're going to keep those jokes in there. 'Fetch' will be a song, for sure, absolutely. And it will probably reprise itself at some point, just so you know. Gretchen Wieners will have a song. That's all I can say. But it is fun to think about who is going to get a song - like, Damian will have a couple of songs.".

MEAN GIRLS was released in 2004, written by Fey, and directed by Mark Waters. The film follows the new girl in town, Cady Heron, and her attempt to navigate the cliques of high school, including 'The Plastics,' led by Regina George. The film starred Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried (in her film debut), and featured Fey. The film was a box office success, grossing $129,042,871 worldwide.

Seyfried has recently appeared in Tom Hooper's big-screen adaptation of LES MISERABLES, and will next be seen in the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, aptly titled LOVELACE.

What do you think? Should Seyfried play 'Regina George'? Who would you cast?
