The Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC) presents the Alexander String Quartet in two concerts, Wednesday, May 3 and Friday, May 5.

Each evening showcases BPAC's quartet-in-residence performing two all-Mozart programs along with Cliburn-silver medalist Joyce Yang.

On Wednesday, May 3, the Alexander String Quartet performs Mozart's 'Hoffmeister' Quartet' (K.499) along with the second 'Prussian Quartet' (K.589). Rounding-out the program, ASQ tags in all-star pianist Joyce Yang for the genre-defining Quartet for Piano & Strings No. 1 in G minor (K.478).

Two days later, on Friday, May 5, the Alexanders complete the 'Prussian' cycle with performances of Mozart's String Quartets Nos. 21 (K.575) and 23 (K.590). Mozart's quartets Nos. 21-23, nicknamed the "Prussian Quartets", were written between 1789-90 and dedicated to the King of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm II, who himself was an amateur cellist. Joyce Yang once again joins the group for the Quartet for Piano & Strings No. 2 in E-flat major (K.493).
