SPACE on Ryder Farm announces its inaugural benefit - SPACE in the City - set for Monday, December 3rd from 7-10pm at Ars Nova loft at 511 W. 54th Street in New York City. The event will feature artist performance and readings from theater artists including Gabriel Ebert (4,000 Miles, Brief Encounter), Adam Rapp (Through the Yellow Hour, Red Light Winter), Teddy Bergman (Peter and the Starcatcher), Damon Daunno (Brief Encounter) and Grace McLean (www.gracemclean.com).
SPACE on Ryder Farm is a nonprofit artist residency program housed on a working organic farm an hour outside of Manhattan in Brewster, New York. SPACE’s mission is to support artists by providing a workshop space singular in its ability to reinvigorate the artist's spirit and their work.“SPACE enriches the New York theatre community by providing a home for artists to create dynamic new work. By supporting SPACE you’re investing in the promise of a generation of theatre artists,” said Executive Director Emily Simoness.In just two seasons’ time, SPACE on Ryder Farm has garnered a substantial track record, fostering new work from some of the nation's most exciting theater artists. The 2011 and 2012 seasons hosted over 200 artists, including: Adam Rapp, Young Jean Lee (The Shipment, 2 time Obie Award winner); director Davis McCallum (The Whale, Bright New Boise); playwrights Molly Smith Metzler (Elemeno Pea), Bekah Brunstetter (Be a Good Little Widow, Oorah!), Mat Smart (Samuel J. and K.); actors Judith Light (“Who’s the Boss?,” 2012 Tony Award for Other Desert Cities), John Glover (“Smallville,” Tony Award for Love! Valour! Compassion!), and Santino Fontana (Brighton Beach Memoirs, Drama Desk Award); Off-Broadway theater companies Ars Nova, Naked Angels, and Old Vic New Voices (Artistic Director Kevin Spacey).
