Abraham Brody Returns To National Sawdust With Music From New Album 'Crossings'

Singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Abraham Brody makes a triumphant return to National Sawdust on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Praised by The New Yorker as "ferocious, " Brody will be performing arrangements of new music from his forthcoming album Crossings. For this concert, he shares the stage with the young, adventurous ensemble Contemporaneous.

Crossings is is an "exploration of the mythologies of our time, of our relationships, and the transient society in which we live," says Brody. And, earlier this week he released the official video for "In the Dream," which "speaks to the surreal mythology that plays in our heads even when waking. It speaks to tolerance, to acceptance, to diversity, in a world which becomes increasingly intolerant each day."

Abraham Brody has been compared to modern classical avant-garde composers such as ANOHNI, Laurie Anderson, and Anna von Hausswolff, and has also been dubbed "Lithuania's male Björk" for his ability to innovate. Named one of WNYC New Sounds "Top Artists of 2017" and hailed by Broadway World as "epic", he mixes crushing atmospheric classical sections, dazzling electronics, and synthesizers on top of imaginative, passion-soaked vocal layering and spiritual compositions akin to composers such as Ólafur Arnalds or Icelandic collective amiina.
