The 4th Annual Tribeca Film Festival will take place from April 19th through May 1st. Of the hundreds of entries, there are a few that will have theater lovers waiting in line.

One of the entries already getting plenty of hype is the world premiere of "Show Business" directed by Dori Berinstein. "Getting a Broadway musical off the ground isn't easy-even if it stars Boy George, is written by Tony Kushner, or is based on a bestselling novel, and especially if the script features puppets having sex. Show Business tracks four musicals (Wicked, Avenue Q, Taboo and Caroline, or Change) from inception to the Tony Awards.".  You can catch screenings on Monday April 25, 27th and 29th.

Next up "The Lady In Question Is Charles Busch" which is also getting its world Premiere. The film, directed by both John Catania and Charles Ignacio is a "fascinating portrait of drag artist Charles Busch from his humble beginnings performing in an East village storefront to his Broadway and film accomplishments. Interlaced with archival footage, interviews, and clips from a-never-before seen short directed by Busch himself." Screenings will take place on April 22nd, 26th and 28th. For anyone that has seen Charles Busch perform and for those that haven't, this will surely be an intriguing film to watch.

Christopher Monger directs, "Special Thanks to Roy London." This world premiere documentary "pays homage to avant-garde acting coach Roy London. Through a series of interviews with London's students including, Sharon Stone, Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Hank Azaria, Patrick Swayze, and Garry Shandling, Monger paints a vivid portrait of a dazzling professional who often struggled with his personal life." You can catch screenings of "Special Thanks To Roy London" on April 24th, 27th and May 1st. Roy London lived a short 50 years but had a profound impact on his students and colleagues. It's always intriguing to hear anecdotes told by those closes to the subejct, so this film should be one to watch for.

For the child in all of us, "The Muppet Wizard of Oz" is sure to be "popular" when it gets its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival before airing on ABC. Directed by Kirk Thatcher, the film stars Kermit the Frog as The Scarecrow, Gonzo as The Tin Man, Fozzie as The Cowardly Lion, Ashanti as Dorothy and Miss Piggy pulling double duty as both the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda. Screenings are April 27th, 30th and May 1st. Perhaps Bernard Telsey Casting will get some new ideas after watching this!

And finally, the classic "My Sister Eileen" which will be shown on the big screen April 22nd. This is the new restoration version about Ohio natives Ruth (Betty Garrett) and her sister Eileen (Janet Leigh) who settle in Greenwich Village to respectively become a writer and actress. The duo finds romance in magazine editor Bob (Jack Lemmon) and soda jerk Frank (Bob Fosse.) Choreography by Fosse and directed by Richard Quine. What better way to enjoy a classic musical than on the big screen?

Details for all the entried above and the festival itself can be found on their
official website.  See you at the festival!
