"With Love from the Trenches" is a moving and deeply personal look at the Australian experience of World War I, expressed through heart-rending letters between a mother and her soldier son in the lead up to the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

Written by South Australian actor and director Vicky Horwood and based on actual World War I letters from her grandfather and great uncle, this touching play tells the story of Reggie (Hal Bruce), a 20-something South Australian country lad fighting on the western front while his mother waits anxiously for his return.

Interspersed with heart rending readings of classic war poetry and songs of the era by veteran actor and ABC 891 Adelaide poetry regular Russell Starke, "With Love from the Trenches" is a touching and lyrical reminder of both the horrors of war and the power of love.

Stars Russell Starke, Hal Bruce, Vicky Horwood and Anna Pike.

All tickets $27.50 each, or book four "Cabaret Under the Star" shows for $90. Bookings and further information at www.startheatres.com.au or call 8234 1800
